The University of Medan Area (UMA) Greenmetric Team at the UI-GreenMetrics workshop at the University of North Sumatra (USU), Thursday (20/2/2020). The workshop was attended by public and private universities in Western Indonesia.
On this occasion, Deputy Chairperson of UI-GreenMetrics Junaidi M.A presented several agendas in 2020 including national seminars to be held in several regions, and the agenda of international meetings in Iran. Junaidi M.A. also explains how to fill out the correct UI-GreenMetrics ranking questionnaire in order to minimize data input errors. In addition, he also explained the experiences of several universities that won the top 10 rankings of UI GreenMetrics in 2019 in sustainable environmental management in universities.
Previously, the keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Ir Tommy Ilyas, M.Eng (Member of the UI GreenMetric University of Indonesia Expert Team) delivered material entitled “Civil Engineering, Green Campus, and Sustainability”. He explained the relationship between civil engineering and the green campus and its relation to the Suistanable Depelovement Goals. He said, the science of civil engineering in creating green buildings which is a characteristic of buildings on a green campus. In addition, the construction of a green building itself is an example of a Green Campus Suistanable Design which applies the principles of using durable materials, facilities that have environmental protection, and operations that pay attention to schools and resilience.
